The Jubilee Season

The Scoundrel and Scamp Theatre is pleased to be a participant in THE JUBILEE,
a nationwide movement celebrating the work of marginalized voices.

We are inspired by THE JUBILEE Season movement to support a diverse, inclusive, and intersectional vision in 2020-2021 as a way of celebrating the work of traditionally marginalized voices.

For one year (the 2020/2021 season), the entire United States theatre community is challenged to unite in joyful responsibility, celebration and change.

We see the JUBILEE is an opportunity to participate in a mass movement for change. We have been challenged to take responsibility for our contribution to nationwide inequity and address it through a year of innovative programming.

Our Pledge

In the spirit of The JUBILEE Season movement, The Scoundrel and Scamp Theatre pledges to produce work that empowers diverse voices to express and be heard, emphasizing the creation of new opportunities for underrepresented persons to act, direct, design, and create.

We commit in Season 4 to staging plays that share stories outside of mainstream American culture; these plays will comprise over half our season.

In our casting practices, we commit to extend beyond prior processes to find, attract, and cast BIPOC and non-binary artists while questioning ‘traditional’ casting practices.

In our organizational practices, we are identifying new ways to support racial equity and dismantle institutional racism. We celebrate this JUBILEE Season and look forward to sharing a powerful, diverse selection of immersive work with cross-generational audiences in Tucson and beyond.
