What do Cirque du Soleil, The Blue Man Group and TikTok have in common? They all have visual storytelling at their core. Like them, visual theatre creator Wolfe Bowart uses images, rather than words, to tell his stories. Shadow puppets, found objects, magic and movement are tools he uses to tell wondrous stories that make us think in different ways.

In this workshop, Wolfe will encourage participants to use a different part of their brain as they gather objects found around the home and explore new ways of expressing themselves. Get ready for a family-friendly, fun and inspirational series of structured playdates. Explore ways to create theater via Zoom, experimenting with the boundaries of the medium.

Five days of writing, composition and exploration will be followed by a weekend workshop where the content will be brought to life and captured on video. International artists in the fields of theater, film and music (guest artists to be announced soon) will join and partner with the participants in the final four sessions of the workshop.

Skills students will develop during this course:

  • Learn aspects of shadow and found object puppetry

  • Participate in and learn about the elements of evocative storytelling

  • Gain new tools for abstract and creative thinking

  • Create alongside working artists in theater, film and music

Please read The Scoundrel & Scamp Class Policy prior to registration. (note that the in-person requirements will not apply to this virtual camp.
