“I, John Brown, am now quite certain that the crimes of this guilty land will never be purged away but with blood.”
Charles Town, (West) Virginia 1859. A trial is being held to prosecute abolitionist and religious fanatic John Brown for orchestrating an armed insurrection to overthrow the institution of slavery in the United States. Accused of treason and murder, John Brown, his family, the townspeople, and even the nation are forced to confront their laws and beliefs in a story that sharply resonates in this day and age.
