Artist Bio
WOLFE BOWART
Wolfe Bowart is an Artistic Associate at The Scoundrel and Scamp Theatre and is the creator of two magical physical theater productions at the S&S: Cloud Soup and OAF (with Matt Walley). Born in New York and raised in Tucson, physical theatre playwright and performer Bowart is devoted to creating and presenting theatre productions that engage cross-generational audiences in theatrical experiences that evoke thought, wonder and laughter. Under the banner of his company SpoonTree Productions (www.spoontree.com), Bowart performs and tours internationally his original works The Shneedles, LaLaLuna, Letter’s End, The Man the Sea Saw and Cloud Soup. His company has twice been honored with Helpmann Award© nominations (the Australian Tony Awards) in the categories of Best National Touring Production and Best Physical/Visual Theatre Production. Bowart's productions have been seen in 20 countries.
Alongside his performance work, Bowart has brought theatre to the classroom as an educator, artist in residence and mentor to students aged 4 to 74. Over the past twenty years, he has taught in the US, Europe, the UK, Australia and Mexico in association with such organizations as The Los Angeles Music Center, Wolf Trap ArtStart, the California Migrant Education Program, The Ahmanson Theater, The South Coast Repertory Theater, The Playwrights Project, The Virginia Avenue Project and in Australia, the National Institute of Circus Arts and the Australia Council for the Arts.
