Stagecraft for Scamps

When: Classes on Saturdays, 9:00 - 10:15 a.m., Jan 11 - Mar 7, 2019 with a showcase on March 8th at 7pm.
Cost: $175, all materials included
Instructor: Marguerite Saxton and guest instructors (Tiffer Hill, Raulie Martinez, Bryan Rafael Falcón)
Design and Craft for a play! Stagecraft for Scamps is recommended for for students ages 11-18 who wish to experience the design and production side of the theater. Students will learn lighting, set, properties and costume design and production. The course will cultivate a sense of dedication to craft, respect for fellow artists, and joy of creation. The designs produced in this class will be utilized in a production completely written, performed and run by the Scamp Company in the spring.
Note: Students interested in learning the playwriting, directing and acting side of theater should consider joining us for A Scamp Production, which runs from 10:30am-11:45am.
Skills students will develop during this course:
An introduction to the instruments, technology and art of lighting for theater..
Exposure to the drafting and design methodology behind set and properties design.
Opportunities to design and gather costumes.
Experience on how design can speaks to the message and needs of a play.
Observation and listening
An understanding of theatre terms and technologies
