When: Saturdays, 9:00 - 10:15 a.m.; January 15 - March 19, with a showcase on the last day of class.

Cost: $175, all materials included.

Do you have an eye for fashion? Do you believe clothes make the character? Join other creative costumers in learning about how to build worlds and tell stories through clothing in Costume Design! Costume Design is a semester-long course recommended for students ages 12-18 who wish to learn the basics of designing and building costumes for theater. Participants will learn about costume construction from concept to creation, whether sewing or searching out the pieces they’ll put onstage. The course will cultivate a sense of dedication to craft, respect for fellow artists, and joy in creating. The semester will culminate in a showcase of student work.

Skills students will develop during this course:

  • Costume design

  • World- and character-building through clothing

  • Finding costume pieces

  • Upcycling and repurposing

  • Costume building

  • An understanding of theatre terms and technologies
