Puppetry Workshops

Who: scamps of all ages accompanied by an adult!

When: Saturdays from 9:15 to 10:15 AM
- October 7th: Shadow Puppets
- October 21st: Masks
- November 11th: Sock Puppets

Cost: $35 per adult & child pair per single workshop, with the option to add more family members for $15 each.

Instructor: Lisa Sturz, S&S Artistic Associate

Build your own masks or puppets!

Renowned Puppetmaster Lisa Sturz has worked with Jim Henson Productions, Walt Disney Imagineering, Lucasfilm, PBS, and many more! Her puppetry expertise and artistry brings a whimsical flair to puppet creation and performance, and she’ll share her tips and tricks of the trade in this course.

New and experienced puppeteers are all welcome!

October 7: SHADOW PUPPETS

Create your own shadow puppet plays. Participants will construct a small shadow theatre from a cardboard box and learn to make and manipulate simple jointed figures.

October 21: MASKS

Make a mask for Halloween! Parents and students will each create their own mask. We provide a cardboard base and all the materials needed for colorful creations. Prepare to get a little messy and bring a bag to carry your masks home, as it takes a couple hours for them to dry.

November 11: SOCK PUPPETS

Transform your old socks into lovable creatures! We will have lots of materials on hand to create magical puppet characters. Bring your own (clean) socks or choose from the ones we provide.

Each of the workshops is standalone, but enroll in all three for a wonderful miniature introductory course to puppets and masks!
