Fairy Tales & Folklore is a semester-long course recommended for students ages 8-11. In it, participants will learn the basics of theater through fantastical stories, activities, games, collaboration, and movement. Students will learn about the magical world of fairytales, as well as the brilliant cultures & traditions that shape folklore around the world. The course will cultivate a sense of dedication to craft, respect for fellow artists, and joy in performing. The semester will highlight various stories from local folklore traditions as well as students’ own renditions of fairy tale classics!

Skills students will develop during this course:

  • Ensemble building and games

  • Movement and gesture

  • Vocal skills

  • Collaborative storytelling

  • Observation and listening

  • An understanding of theatre terms and technologies

  • A deeper sense of and appreciation for our local culture & folklore
