CLASSES AT the S&S
The Scoundrel & Scamp Theatre offers workshops and ensemble training for youth and adults, with an emphasis on the collaborative nature of the theatrical art. We partner with local primary and secondary schools to shape the complete theatre artist, onstage, backstage, and front-of-house.
Fall 2023 Classes will Run September through November.
NOTE: We are pleased to make available several scholarships to Scamps every year. If the cost of a Scamp class presents a barrier to your child enrolling, please contact us at classes@scoundrelandscamp.org and let us know — we’d love to provide you with a scholarship.

Puppetry Workshop (Saturdays from 9:15 - 10:15 a.m.)

Puppetry Workshops
Taught by Master puppeteer Lisa Sturz
Runs Saturdays, 9:15 - 10:15 a.m.;
- October 7th: Shadow Puppets
- October 21st: Masks
- November 11th: Sock Puppets
Cost: $35 per adult and child pair per workshop, or $85 for all three workshops (add additional family members for $15 per person!)
This fall, get into the autumnal spirit with masks, shadow puppets, and hand puppets! Scamps and their accompanying scoundrels will attend these workshops together, learning about and creating different types of masks and puppets. Each workshop is standalone, so you can attend any one, two, or all three of these exciting hand-on creation sessions!
For Students in 2nd through 6th Grades
Acting & Theatre Arts
Taught by Teaching artist Zachary Austin
Runs Saturdays, 10:30 - 11:45am.; September 9 - November 18, 2023
Cost: $180 for 9 sessions and a special performance
Acting & Theatre Arts is a semester-long course recommended for students in grades 2 through 6 who wish to learn the basics or improve their existing skills in acting and theatrical arts through stories, activities, games, collaboration, and movement. Students will dive into stories and learn about performance, stage presence, and physical artistry.
For Students in 5th through 12th Grades
Scamp Company
Taught by teaching artist Gretchen wirges
Runs Saturdays, 10:30 - 11:45 am.; September 9 - November 18, 2023, then continues in the spring (January 13 - April 21, 2024)
Cost: $180 for 9 sessions and a special performance
The Scamp Company fall workshop is the first part of a year-long program in which scamps will work toward mounting a full MainStage production! The scamps will work through every aspect of a professional production, from auditions to table reads to rehearsals to performances. Scamps signing up for the fall workshop should plan to continue with this course through the spring as well.
Scamp Design & Tech
TAUGHT BY TEACHING ARTIST ANNIKA MAHER & OTHERS!
Runs Saturdays, 10:30 - 11:45 AM; September 9 - November 18, 2023, then continues in the spring (January 13 - April 21, 2024)
Cost: $180 for 9 sessions and a special performance
Design and craft the world of a play! Scamp Design & Tech Corps is recommended for for students ages 11-18 who are interested in learning about the design, technical, and production side of the theater, as well as what it takes to run a production. Scamps in this course will help with design and tech for the Scamp Company production alongside theatre professionals!
