Bilingual Folktales, Volume 2

The Woman Who Outshone the Sun & Chupacabra
Que Brillaba Aun Mas Que El Sol & Chupacabra

Red Herring Puppets has created four puppet shows based on stories from Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean. This anthology of bilingual folktales celebrate Latino culture and the importance of welcoming and learning from each other.  Each story features original music by Diana Olivares and Salma Diaz, from Las Azaleas, an all-girl mariachi band based in Tucson.

In Bilingual Folktales, Volume 2 the mysterious Lucia moves to a small village where she befriends birds, animals, fish, and butterflies. The village children taunt her for her differences and cause Lucia to flee. When the river follows her, the villagers understand their cruelty and ask Lucia for forgiveness. 

And in the second tale of Volume 2, the strange and fierce Chupacabra elicits fear and wonder, but children learn an important virtue when they tame the lonely beast with kindness.

Recommended for Pre-K through 5th grade
