What is The S&S Late Night Radio Hour?

The Late Night Radio Hour is a new series at the S&S produced and directed by Samantha Severson. The three play series will take place at the S&S Theater in a 10:00 PM timeslot in front of a live audience and will be presented in a “Golden Age of Radio” style. Actors will both perform the radio plays as well as perform as radio personalities between the segments. The experience will be augmented by an on-stage Sound Artist performing foley live in front of the theater audience.

The S&S Theatre will hold in-person open auditions for our new Late Night Radio Hour series on Monday, September 18th, from 6:30 to 9:00 PM.

If you are interested in signing up for an audition slot please follow the steps below.

 

Other Information

We will be casting from all genders and ethnicities.
Black, Indigenous, and other people of color are welcome and encouraged to audition.

All parts will be read, no memorization necessary.

All roles are paid an honorarium.

PART ONE: Fill out our Google Form
PART TWO: Create an AZ Inclusive Casting Platform profile. If you have previously made a profile in our May 2023 casting cycle and your information will not have changed, there is no need to do Part Two. If your profile is older than April of this year, please resubmit.

After you submit the AZ-ICP profile we will be in contact with you within 48 hours to confirm your audition time.

On October 30, 1938, radio listeners across the country heard an astonishing report of mysterious creatures and terrifying war machines moving toward New York City. But the grisly broadcast was not a real newscast—it was an adaptation of the H.G. Wells classic, The War of the Worlds. Now, once again, humankind will fight to protect themselves against alien invaders.

James and Della Dillingham are a young couple that resolve to give one another the perfect gift for Christmas, despite living in poverty. This adaptation from the short story by O. Henry follows their individual sacrifices and dismay when they realize their partner has sold their most prized possession.

BRAVE NEW WORLD

Rehearsals Begin IN MID JANUARY

A parable about the dehumanization of human beings. Set less than 200 years into the future, the dystopia described in Huxley's story is a place where man has been subordinated to his own inventions. Science, technology, social organization -- these things have ceased to serve humanity and have become its masters. The price of liberty is eternal vigilance.
